The Learning Center (TLC)
If you have dropped out of school and are between the ages of 17 and 25, Threshold Learning Center is here to help you prepare to take your High School Equivalency Exam (GED). Orientation Sessions are held four times per year:
February, May, September, November

Classes are held Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. Vocational and Life Skills Classes are held Tuesday through Thursday from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
Classes are small to give you individual attention. If you’re having trouble with certain subjects, tutors are available to give you extra help.
Threshold also has counselors to help you if you have some problems that may be getting in the way of your education. They can help you with childcare, transportation, housing, substance abuse, personal, legal and family problems.

Vocational Programs Threshold has two Vocational Programs: ACHIEVE (Another Chance Initiative for Educational, Vocational and Employment) and Rochester Resource Alliance (RRA).
These programs provide pre-employment training activities that are necessary to find a keep a job. Activities include: GED preparation, career exploration life skills, job placement, on-the-job training, employment counseling, internships, employer site visits, job fairs and community service.
Learning Center Staff
The Learning Center is staffed with two teachers, one part-time Rochester City School District Teacher, a Career Educator, volunteers, interns and tutors from the Senior Community Service Employment Program.
Continuing Education
Threshold believes that your education shouldn’t end after you receive your GED.
We have relationships with area colleges, business schools and vocational training programs. We will help you apply for college or training program or help you with your job search. Whatever you choose to do, we’ll help you get there!
PASS Program (Practicing Administrative Support Skills)
Threshold offers a short-term employment/training program where Learning Center students are placed in part-time entry-level positions at Threshold. Currently, the positions are: Front Desk Receptionist, Maintenance Worker, Summer Enrichment Program Aide. Students work from three to six months. This work experience is designed to increase your confidence, teach you new skills and prepare you for employment and/or college.
Students are chosen based on attendance and academic performance. Students must be motivated and ready to work.
